Military Vehicle Exhaust Removal

Fume-A-Vent overhead exhaust removal systems provide critical protection for military personnel working in temporary repair facilities. Our rope-and-pulley simple drop systems are engineered for durability in demanding field environments, delivering reliable performance where it matters most.

Designed for harsh conditions, these systems store overhead when not in use and deploy quickly when needed. With straightforward installation and low operational costs, Fume-A-Vent systems have become essential equipment for military vehicle maintenance operations worldwide.

Hose Temps: 400° F / 600° F

Summary

Since 1975, Alaska Structures has specialized in designing high-performance fabric buildings and camp systems for military applications. Their expertise includes engineering vehicle repair facilities, shelter systems, and field hospitals capable of operating in extreme environments. For this project, Alaska Structures constructed a series of service and repair tents to support military vehicle maintenance operations in desert conditions.

Challenge

Alaska Structures needed a solution to remove toxic diesel exhaust and carcinogenic contaminants from enclosed repair tents. In confined spaces, diesel emissions rapidly reach dangerous concentrations, posing serious health risks to military personnel. The system had to be durable enough for field deployment, easy to install in temporary structures, and effective at capturing harmful emissions before they entered the breathing zone.

Solution

Fume-A-Vent equipped Alaska Structures with heavy-duty rope-and-pulley simple drop systems, enabling dual exhaust capture in each repair and maintenance tent.

When vehicles like HMMWVs require service, technicians simply pull the hoses into position. When not in use, the systems retract overhead, keeping work areas clear and preventing trip hazards in the confined tent environment. This configuration allows military bases to maintain safe air quality standards while protecting the health and readiness of service members performing vehicle repairs and maintenance.

By capturing diesel exhaust at the source, these systems prevent the accumulation of toxic fumes and ensure military personnel can work safely in any deployment environment.
